Introduction of General Binding Declaration (GBD)

The GBD (in Dutch called AVV) for collective communication has come into effect on 1 January 2025. The timeline below provides an overview of the process.

Green Light for the GBD

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature has approved the application for the General Binding Declaration (GBD). This means that on 1 January 2025, the GBD for collective consumer communications will officially take effect.

BO Sierteelt submits the application to the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality (LVVN) for the introduction of the GBD.

Trading companies, growers and Plants & Flowers Foundation Holland (formerly the Flower Council Holland) agree on the future of sector communication.

78% of the growers voted for the introduction of an GBD. The number of votes from the trade was insufficient to request an GBD.

March 2023

Growers and traders can vote for a GBD.

Royal FloraHolland announces that it intends to stop collecting for Plants & Flowers Foundation Holland (formerly Flower Council Holland) as of 1 January 2024.
